Shared Mail is an extension of the newspaper that features display ads on the wrap and advertising inserts inside. Shared Mail is the dominant saturation mail vehicle in the Chicagoland market with an advertising base that includes grocery stores, retailers and service companies.
Chicago Tribune and Valassis Communication announced a strategic partnership in August, 2008 combining their current shared mail advertising programs, Trib Local Values and RedPlum, into a combined co-branded mail package. This new program provides consumers with a robust package of advertising inserts that reaches 100% of the households and makes it one of the strongest mailed advertising programs in the Chicagoland market.
